AMDA is a performing arts school founded in 1964 by Philip H. Burton. AMDA was created with a simple but powerful idea which was to create a school run by professional performers, for performers aspiring to become one of the professionals.
AMDA'S MISSION STATEMENT:
AMDA is committed to providing an unsurpassed performing arts education to a diverse community of creative artists. AMDA seeks to be both the school and the stage, where students are given the support and the freedom to find their voice and to design and create their own unique artistic vision. We strive to create an environment for our students to develop the skills, confidence, imagination and power to contribute to their community as artists, entrepreneurs, visionaries, lifelong learners and conscientious citizens of the world. To achieve this, AMDA provides rigorous, performance-based training and an industry-focused education experience that inspires excellence and prepares artists with an appreciation for the universal power of transformation through art. Above all, we want to teach our students that commitment, passion, and joy are the hallmarks to a successful career.
AMDA is truly a college conservatory that wants the best for all of the attending students, prior students, and future students. While attending AMDA they will work you; push you to your limits, all to make you the performer you are hoping to become. I wish to go to this school because it is somewhere that knows what you want because it is being taught by people who want/wanted the same. This is the kind of school AMDA is, and I truly hope I can attend there.
